About V8 Racing Green

The V8 Racing Green program is a joint project between BigPond, V8 Supercars and Future Climate Australia.

The program, launched in March 2007 by the Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Malcolm Turnbull, will entirely offset the carbon emissions from the V8 Supercar Championship Series in 2007.

This is the first time a motorsport series anywhere has made a season-long commitment to reduce its impact on the environment. The V8 Racing Green program will help educate millions of V8 Supercar fans across Australia and New Zealand about climate change at each V8 Supercar event.

Activities Include:

• Advocating a carbon trading message to V8 Supercar fans and encouraging them to return emissions from their everyday lives.
• In 2007, V8 Supercars will work with Future Climate Australia to plant 15,000 native trees across Australia and New Zealand.
• V8 Supercars Australia will highlight the issue by visiting primary schools around the country and New Zealand donating, and planting, native trees. View the full planting schedule here.
• ‘Carbon Calculators’ will be included in all schools material at every V8 Supercar event nationally.
• All V8 Supercars will use a 5 per cent ethanol blend fuel for every event across the entire 2007 Series.
