During a race it can be up to 20°C hotter in a V8 Supercar than the outside temperature. On a hot race day, V8 Supercar drivers may face searing temperatures of up to 60°C in their race car.

5.  How do Drivers stay hydrated during a race?
To combat dehydration caused by the heat they endure during a race, drivers consume large quantities of fluids. They drink up to 5 litres during a race. This is balanced against the fluid they lose during a race. It is common for a driver to sweat up to 3 litres (equals 3kg) during a race.

6.  What safety equipment does a Driver wear?
A driver wears extensive protective equipment including a 3-layer Nomax fire suit, fireproof underwear, balaclava, gloves, boots, Helmet and a HANS® device (head and neck support device). 

7.  What kind of seatbelt do drivers wear in a V8 Supercar?
Drivers are securely strapped into a V8 Supercar using a 6-point harness. Two straps harness their shoulders, two harness their waist and the final two strap around their inner thighs to the lap belt.

An engine can be changed in about an hour.

A pit stop with two tyres being changed can be conducted in 3 – 5 seconds. Four tyres can be changed in 8 – 11 seconds.
